State of the Studios Week of March 26, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Welcome to our final edition for the month of March as the calendar fast approaches April. Enjoy all the timely the articles that follow and remember to click on the links at the end of each update for the latest photos and videos.


Updating readers first on the Studios parking situation as heavy Spring Break and graduation trip visitors are frequenting the Park in large numbers: The “Stage” section of the parking lot is still halfway under construction while the other lot section work is progressing well. This in conjunction with the road work on the new entrance way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Likewise, notice the new crossing signs for added guest well-being that directs walkers where to safely cross busy traffic lanes.

Wow, crews are working rapidly on the exciting Skyliner gondola project resulting in one of the first tall metal support poles for the overhead cabling that was positioned literally overnight. Construction of this innovative aerial guest transportation network is making steady progress from the Studios gondola stop toward the future Disney Caribbean Beach Resort station. New Disney merchandise news just in time for Easter crowds comes from Movieland Memorabilia,   the outdoor merchandise location that is uniquely located half inside and half outside the Park gates. Along with the selection of gifts, toys and souvenirs, take notice next visit of a new look to their main Toy Story merchandise display. Likely a marketing ploy to tempt shoppers to select from  their long  standing great Toy Story product selection. More merchandise updates:  Mickey’s of Hollywood offers a new Chewie water bottle just in time for the hot summer thirst ; Tattooine Traders Star Wars gift shop, where you encounter an intergalactic adventure for your family and your bank card,  features a new display of Star Wars coffee mugs;   Star Wars Launch Bay Cargo, a great choice for Star Wars saga merchandise, now offers fans Star Wars wooden models they can  create that are  very similar to the popular metal models offered; The Five and Dime Store, unique with its celebrity photos arrayed around the store walls,  has removed all movie soundtrack CDs and replaced these items with a selection of Disney autograph books.


Hollywood Studios HQ was the first to report to fans the relocation of the construction wall in front of the future Toy Story Land Attraction, revealing a slightly improved view of some giant Toy Story structures nearing completion .With additional benches and new trees just planted, visitors can now count on additional seating to rest during the remaining days of the busy PIXAR Place corridor. The walk up watering hole formerly positioned behind The Trolley Car Café has moved to a new convenient location on Sunset Blvd in the Sunset Ranch Market near Sunshine Day Cafe! Raise a glass after a day of Star Wars adventures at this outdoor bar. Guests can indulge in a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Blast off your week with awesome views of the latest construction progress on the mountainscape and building structure enclosures of the Planet Batuu.
