State of the Studios week of April 30th 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Construction focus remains on the newly paved area opposite the cast members lot with additional barrier walls being removed that reveal the progress. A large freshly paved expanse is being finalized. Accordingly, the Stage section is under worker siege with mounds of dirt piled high. A exciting photographic look this week at the Hollywood Studios Skyliner station is below for readers. Wood framing has now given way to concrete structures as crews erect additional horizontal steel beams on top of the metal columns to support this transportation system.  Large shrub foliage has been planted near the original water pathway that was recently closed to guests. Also note a wooden walk way used by construction crews is being positioned in the direction where the first gondola on opening day will travel with its riders  in route  to the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort. Guests can now enjoy 30 additional minutes of Park excitement beginning today! The closing time has been extended to 9:30pm continuing through the month of May, except for May 27 when a 6pm closing is imposed for the special ticketed event Star Wars: Galactic Nights .This extended closing now schedules the popular Fantastic show  beginning at 9pm, followed by the ever thrilling Star Wars: Galactic Spectacular nighttime event at 9:30pm. Shoppers cruising Hollywood Blvd. for new merchandise need to make their way to Mickey’s of Hollywood for brand new Mickey Mouse ears that feature a rainbow heart enclosed with hands centered on the cap between similarly colored rainbow ears. With an instant popularity, these colorful rainbow ears are frequenting the entire Park.

“Breakfast on a bun” and other hot and cold selections now await early Park goers daily at this quick service location for a limited time. From April 25 to May 5, Fairfax Fare on Sunset Blvd offers hot oatmeal, fruit and yogurt, loaded scrambled eggs, fresh-baked patties, and additional selections from 9am to 11 am before serving their normal lunch menu beginning at 11:30am. Perk up the start of the day with this new offering.

Rizzo the Rat awaits guests for a unique photo opportunity outside his pizza parlor.  Diners just step outside the main entrance after enjoying fresh pizza or that meatball sub where a friendly Photo Pass cast member will help create a photo memory with this character positioned on a barrel. While the dining closes at 4pm, Rizzo was observed with his Photo Pass photographer standing by until 7pm. Take advantage of this feature soon. Click the link below for full coverage.

Fans of experiment 626 will want to visit mischievous Stitch’s new array of merchandise inside Carthay Circle. Guests can select from adult and child apparel, backpacks, character gloves, notebooks, women’s purses and wallets, and accessories. A new irresitable Stitch plush adorned with a Hawaiian lei is on store shelves. Why not chose a new coffee mug for home. Two designs of Stitch hats can be purchased. A lovable Angel plush, Stitches’ friend, is also available complete with a Hawaiian flower adorning her ear. Lilo joins the image of Stitch on clear water bottles for purchase just in time for warm days in the Park. Click the link below for full coverage.

More tree foliage appears as the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge continues to build. Guests may notice a new line of trees recently planted by Disney at the end of Grand Avenue stretching from the Muppet Vision 3-D building all the way to the end of the Harmony Music Store. This addition compliments the tree line already in place at the end of Pixar Place. This new landscaping is another indicator that the attraction’s grand opening is no longer “far, far away…”. Guest can now catch a glimpse of the beloved Woody offering a pre-opening tip of his hat just above the construction wall besides Walt Disney Presents. This star character stands aside the new Toy Story Land giant entrance marquee touting his 7 foot wide cowboy hat. With the attraction’s grand opening just over 2 month’s way, the large Toy Story Land sign is a welcome sight. Click the link below for full coverage.

A delicious “Tale as Old as Time” treat now awaits guests at the Sunset Ranch Market. Get ready to enjoy this brand new raspberry-filled vanilla cupcake with tasty yellow buttercream icing. Whether purchased before or after viewing the Beauty and the Beast stage production directly across the street, this tempting delight is available for $5.99. This new cupcake selection replaces The Wrinkle in Time themed cupcake that has been a favorite for some time at the Sunset Ranch Market. Click the link below for full coverage.

Guests should keep their wallets ready for additional clothing selections just added to the current upscale Star Wars apparel here at Launch Bay Cargo. Fans can chose from a beige color Luke Skywalker jacket,   a Resistance fighter’s sweater or even an orange rebel pilot wrap. Shoppers will also now find a rebel themed scarf as well as a brown authentic Chewie jacket on the racks. Enclosure of the main show building is nearing completion, as the overall attraction’s mountain scape continues to rise skyward. Captured in a photo below is a new sheet metal ducting positioned on the roof.  New construction portable lighting has been moved into place to apparently illuminate both backstage work activity as well as the guest entrance drive for night time. A new metal spire appeared this week that undoubtedly is a part of the forthcoming Planet of Batuu. Click the link below for full coverage.
